1867 - This is the day the Confederation of Upper and Lower Canada and the Maritime Provinces became the Dominion of Canada. This Canadian national holiday is known as Canada Day, formerly Dominion Day.
1916 - Dwight David Eisenhower married Mamie Geneva Doud. It was the same day that Ike was promoted to first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Quite a day for the future U.S. President and his new bride.
1934 - The Federal Communications Commission, as mandated in the "Communications Act of 1934", replaced the Federal Radio Commission as the regulator of broadcasting in the United States.
1951 - Bob Feller set a baseball record as he pitched his third no-hitter for the Cleveland Indians.
1956 - Elvis Presley got an invitation from Steve Allen to appear on "The Tonight Show". Although Elvis showed up in formal wear, the penguin suit didn’t hamper his ability to sing "Hound Dog" to a sad-eyed basset hound.
1967 - Scott McKenzie scored his first hit with the single, "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)". The song became an anthem for the Love Generation and the young people of flower power. McKenzie also co-wrote a hit for the Beach Boys in 1988, called "Kokomo". Just so that you know, he was born Philip Blondheim in Jacksonville, FL. Phil thought the name Scott McKenzie was better for a music biz career. His songs, "San Francisco" and "Like an Old Time Movie", were written and produced by John Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas.
1995 - Wolfman Jack collapsed and died of a heart attack at his home in Belvidere, in northeastern North Carolina. He had just returned from a whirlwind tour promoting his autobiography "Have Mercy!: Confessions of the Original Rock ’n’ Roll Animal". Fans first learned to love the Wolfman in 1963 on 250,000-watt XERF (Del Rio TX - Ciudad Acuna, Mexico), heard all over North America. You may also remember him as, that's right, Wolfman Jack, in the 1973 movie "American Graffiti". And he's the same Wolfman The Guess Who sings about in their 1974 hit "Clap for the Wolfman".

Al lot of people are under the impression that they begin to earn money as soon as they upload the given ads. This could not be further from the truth. In this article we'll discuss why video is so popular and some steps you need to take in order to make your videos work, and more importantly, convert your visitors into paying customers.
First and foremost, why is video so popular? Well traditionally most web sites you would come across would contain a lot of ad copy and you had to read in order to find what you needed. Nowadays you can simply search for a specific topic online and more than likely come to a video that explains everything you need to know.
Video marketing is great because you make an instant connection with your viewer, you can convey your message much more quickly and it is easier for the viewer to watch a video than it is for them to read a mountain of paragraphs. Whether it's convenience or we are just getting lazier as technology continues to grow, video is the new wave of information distribution. If you don't believe me, just go to YouTube and search for anything and you will most likely find a result 99% of the time.
So you're a marketer and are attempting to convey a message to your target market using video? What do you do? What are the steps you need to follow in order to make your video cause your viewers to take action?
Here are eight steps you should consider.
(Assuming you already have a video camera and editing software)
1. Write out or plan what you are going to say in your video. Include who you are going to target, what you are going to say and include a call to action at the end of the video.
2. Rehearse what you are going to say or use your computer as a teleprompter if you can't remember what you will say.
3. Make sure your background is clean and organized. If people see you on camera and there is junk and a big mess in the background, it may divert the viewer's attention. (Perhaps your office space or maybe a nice place outside would be a good background choice. If you want, you can go professional and get a nice back drop with some good lighting.)
4. Make eye contact with the camera. Remember you are talking directly to your viewer as if they were in the same room.
5. Stay relaxed and calm. Emotions are easily picked up by that camera lens. Speak with confidence and deliver your message accordingly.

6. Keep your video at a reasonable length. Most video sharing sites do not allow you to go over ten minutes. My best recommendation is to keep your videos between two and five minutes. Your viewers attention span is not long and if you don't get your message across fast they may not wait to finish the video and you more than likely just lost that visitor.
7. Have fun. When you are video marketing you are not only marketing a product or business, but you are marketing yourself. Let your personality shine through and be original. Don't try to sound gimmicky or like a salesman. Remember, your viewers are people just like you.
8. When you have uploaded your video to a video sharing website (YouTube, MetaCafe, Viddler) ensure that you place your keywords in the video title and the description so that your video can be listed in search results.
Following these steps can ensure that you will get loads of traffic from your videos and guess what? It is absolutely free. But remember, just because this is a free marketing strategy doesn't not mean you can do it once and that's it. Be consistent. Continually post videos and make them full of content and value for your viewer. This will help build up your marketing presence and expand your reputation quickly.
Just remember that you are producing these videos to be viewed by other people. Always keep that in mind and everything else will fall into place.
